He asked her to be his girlfriend every. single. day. for five weeks. She said didn’t like him one bit at the beginning, but he eventually won her heart. She said yes right before her birthday. So he had to call the florist to change the tag on the flowers he had ordered from “Will you be my girlfriend?” to “Happy birthday,” and explain to the florist that this girl that he was smitten with had made him the happiest guy alive. And how appropriate that the beginning of this love story took place in chemistry class. And now three years later, he’s given her a promise ring. This couple has a head on their shoulders and a promise in their hearts.
Listening to them tell their story was just as fun as doing these pictures, and it’s always one of my favorite parts of getting to know a new couple. I’ve known them both separately for years, but that’s always a little different than knowing them as a couple. It was downright cold last Saturday afternoon, and it misted enough that for a minute I wondered if I might be testing exactly how waterproof my camera really is. I had on enough layers that I was just fine; Lake was fine; but Madison was shaking in her boots. She told me that she can’t stand cold, doesn’t even really go out on the rare occasions when we get a good Kentucky snow. So my conclusion is that she is head-over-heels in love with Lake Doss. Otherwise I’m sure she wouldn’t have poked her pretty face out of the house last weekend.
I can’t imagine a world without love. Seeing these two laugh and just enjoy being together reminded me of how important it is that we all love. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. –Corinthians 13:13. It’s good to remember that we are instructed to love each other, our families, friends, and even those who might be difficult to love. And what I’ve learned about the Bible’s instructions is that they are always, always right, and bring meaning and purpose that becomes more clear as we grow older. One thing I know for certain is that my love for those around me makes my life meaningful.
Madison and Lake, you are a beautiful and special couple. I love your story, and I was blessed to do these pictures to celebrate your three years together. I pray that you continue to love and enjoy every moment together. I wish you much, much happiness. Love and blessings, Pat
Beautiful couple and beautiful love story!
