It was a stunning display of florals, joy, and love at Shaker Springs last Saturday.
Katelyn and Jr are incredibly loved and their friends and family couldn’t smile any more than they did last Saturday. They both grew up with acres of land and with a love for family and animals alike. I think the word to describe them is “compatible.” That’s really not a romantic word, but this couple is also beautiful together and their love is entirely refreshing.
Jr is most definitely a farmer at heart, and one of my favorite memories of him was when I photographed his senior pictures. His mom told me that he wasn’t exactly happy with her for scheduling them, that she didn’t need the bigger session. I told her I thought he’d be ok when we got started. Lots of senior guys aren’t crazy about senior pictures. And he did amazing. After about two seconds, he started coming up with ideas and we ended up all over their farmland, in the corn fields, inside the barn, and with their cows. His mom was a bit shocked, and I had the best time doing them. Traipsing all over is absolutely my thing. But I don’t think he’s lived it down since. So I went into this wedding knowing that Jr Young would come through for his beautiful bride, would be up for some creative photos, and would come up with some ideas of his own. He did.
I’ve known Katelyn and Jr since they were little. In fact, back when it was only BJ doing pics, I went with him to take pics of Katelyn at her great grandmother’s home when she was a tiny baby. She was a baby doll then, and she has grown into a beautiful, kind-hearted, incredibly talented lady. Let’s also add down-to- earth to that description as well. I remember when she was a student at JEBMS, and her sweet personality and maturity in those years was impressive. Katelyn has a sweet way of touching the soul of anyone she meets, young and older alike. No wonder she captured Jr’s heart. And Jr definitely has his heart captured. Scroll down to the reception photos to see one of the sweetest moments I’ve ever seen.
Katelyn and Jr, you are an amazing couple. I can’t say how much I loved every second of capturing this day for you. You knew exactly what you wanted, and even on your special day you had a huge heart for your guests and friends. That’s what you two do; you love others. That’s why so many love you right back. I wish you years and years of joy and success. I adore you both and I’ll always be cheering for you. Love and blessings, Pat
Katelyn wanted to include her mom -Tracy, her stepmom -Cindy, and Jr’s mom -Lynn in her getting ready photos.
I just have to insert here that I feel so blessed to have worked with Katelyn’s grandmother, Zelda, for many years. Katelyn definitely has had so many role models to pattern her sweet personality after. I know they are incredibly proud of her.
After the traditional dances, Jr. had another surprise for his bride. He had planned for Ty Herndon’s “Living in a Moment” for a second dance with Katelyn. If you remember that song, one of the sweetest lines in it is “And when they carve my stone, all they’ll need to write one it is once lived a man who got all he ever wanted.” Oh my. It was a tug on every heart in the building, especially Katelyn’s.
Katelyn and Jr’s wedding was a combined effort of three families that love them very much.
