Kailee + Jamison | A Beautiful Late Summer Wedding in Tompkinsville

Kailee married Jamison surrounded by family and friends at The Gillenwater Barn in Tompkinsville.

I met these two back in the early spring when we did their engagement photos. I learned then that they are an amazing couple, and they are deeply in love – and such fun to be around. I love that they are completely down-to-earth and friendly. (Their engagement session is linked at the bottom.) And just like in late April, they rolled with the flow on Saturday- literally. It feels like a broken record with the weather lately, “It rained, poured, and poured some more.”….right when we were ready for first looks and wedding photos. They made it work, and thankfully we ended up getting some rainy sky photos that I love. It’s like the promise of a rainbow after the rain, cloudy skies create a beautiful backdrop. And at the least, the rain cooled the August air to manageable levels, and this most deserving couple had a beautiful ceremony and reception.

Weddings don’t just happen. If you’ve planned and had the joy of experiencing one, you know this to the core of your being. There’s such a flurry of hurry up and then wait, of worry that it will flow smoothly, and last minute excitement and jitters. A wedding will bring joy, tears, stress, love, and pride. All of these happen in varying degrees, depending on if you are the bride, groom, parents, siblings, friends, etc. And no matter the theme, colors, or venue, they should reflect the personality and love of the couple. What I saw with this wedding is a pulled together effort of so many friends and family who worked hard to make Kailee and Jamison’s dream day truly a dream, rain and all. And at the end of the day, the rain and any other quirk or unexpected pop-up becomes a part of your story. And if you think about it, we plan for perfection in everything, but the little sidetracks of life are what we remember best. Just like every good story has a problem that must be solved, our lives are the same. And every wedding is filled with a beautiful mix of joy and pop-ups, which is perfect in the end. The Woodcock wedding was simply as beautiful a wedding can possibly be.

I loved seeing the laughter and happy tears at various points in the day. First looks are always special, and watching Kailee’s dad and Jamison’s reactions to this beautiful lady they love was so touching. There were tears all around as Kailee and her dad walked down the aisle to meet her groom. Jamison’s mom wiped tears during her dance with her oldest son. And when Kailee joined her mother, and then her sisters, for a special dance in remembrance of her step-dad there was the sweetest. And then the joy – the laughter of friends and family with everything from “ring around the roses” to the dance floor….. it was the perfect ending to this beautiful wedding.

Kailee and Jamison, I smile every time I think of you two. I didn’t even know you a year ago, and now I feel like you are lifelong friends. Your ability to pivot when split second decisions have to be made is admirable. Your joy with each other is refreshing.
