Victoria suggested that we take some pictures at the gazebo in her neighborhood in Bowling Green. “It’s really pretty there in the spring,” she said. When Sally (That’s my Google Maps voice – and she’s very important because I’m directionally challenged.) said to turn right, I nearly croaked. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This was exactly what I’ve been searching for – beautiful row homes and gorgeous trees, water, stonework…… and Victoria just casually mentioned it. I pulled over and just sat there a second before I even texted her to say, ” I’m here.” I can’t wait for you to see the photos, both there and at the Historic Train Depot and Museum!
Ahhh – Victoria and Mark, I loved being around you two. Although we literally just met last Wednesday, your sweet nature and how you adore each other was a reminder of the way life unfolds for us. And your love story was really sweet and so cool!
Mark and Victoria met several years ago when she came to work at Lowes. Mark is in management there, and dating is against the rules, so they were friends for years. I asked if they were rule breakers, and Victoria replied, “Yeah, well he isn’t a rule breaker.” (I’m not either, mostly.) Then, Victoria left Lowes to begin her teaching career a couple of years ago. Their first date was exactly two days later. When you are friends for years, you already know so much about each other, so dating and falling in love is just a beautiful extension of the friendship. Somehow, that makes me feel like it’s perfect marriage recipe. Sometimes couples find that they aren’t even sure they like each other after the new romance fades just a little. When you start as friends, you already like and respect each other. In my thinking, that has to be a plus.
Another plus was that we decided to do their engagement session a day early last Wednesday. Light this beautiful was no where to be found on Thursday afternoon, which was the original plan. And light is everything in a beautiful photographic moment. Sure you can tweak and enhance the light, but nothing is as breathtaking as the glowy light that mother nature gives us when we time things just right. Between the venue, glowy light, and blooms, I was so excited that I had to take a second to calm down to make sure I didn’t make a mistake.
Victoria and Mark, I can’t wait for June to photograph your wedding in Cadiz! You are a beautiful couple, and I can’t say enough how much I loved being around you two. The way you treat each other makes it obvious that you are perfect together. Until then, I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I did taking them. Love and blessings, Pat
