When you see how Nathan looks at Kayton, you can easily see that he’s obsessed with his beautiful bride.
I met Kayton last spring when I did her grad photos to celebrate the end of late night studying, of packing heavy books to class, and the official beginning of scrubs. And now, just a year later, she’s moved into a beautiful new home and married her soulmate. I always ask how couples meet and oh my. The tears Kayton wiped as she told me about Nathan and what he’s meant to her and her family told it all. You see love is wonderful and exciting. But it also is a resting place from the crazy world we live in. It’s a steady backbone in the time of trouble, a chin-up when you feel that life is closing in, and above all – it’s patient and kind. That’s what Kayton has found in Nathan.
As you scroll through my favorites below, you’ll see that Kayton and Nathan didn’t have a wedding party. Oh there were family and friends all over the place, but they chose to keep their wedding simple. They celebrated with an ice cream bar instead of a traditional wedding cake, and trust me – no one complained. No one tossed a garter or a bouquet, and bubbles filled the air at the end of their ceremony instead of at a send off. Another idea I loved was that they did a quick photo with each family as they lined up for food. It took two seconds, and I know they will cherish those photos forever. While all the traditional aspects of a wedding are beautiful too, here’s permission to make your wedding uniquely yours. BECAUSE – the only part of your day that matters is that you are promising to love and stand by each other forever. The Shadburns did just that, and their wedding was simply amazing.
Kayton and Nathan, it was a true honor to photograph your wedding. I LOVED how you made it yours. And the love you two share is such a blessing to witness. I’m always partial to farm families because that’s my background too, and I can’t wait to see how your future unfolds. I know it will be filled with hard work, ups and downs, and the lessons of life that we all experience. I also know that it will be filled with joy and an abundance of love too. Here’s to you!!! Love and blessings, Pat
