Julie + Joe | A Summer Engagement Session at Dugas Park

Weddings Engagements

I can’t wait to photograph Julie and Joe’s wedding at Twisted Cedar Farms, Lebanon, in October!  I met Julie a few years ago when she was a bridesmaid in her friend Brooke’s wedding.  It’s always amazing to me how paths cross, move away, and then cross again.

They are the absolute sweetest couple (Sorry that I’m calling you sweet, Joe.), and I had the best time clicking through their engagement session. It wasn’t because the heat didn’t try to take us out, because it did. I mean, it was HOT. I purposely tried to slow down and take it slower, and for the most part, I think it worked. We were able to get some great shots before we melted down. And I can’t say enough about Julie and Joe’s willingness to do anything I asked. Julie wanted fields and nature, so they were in tall grass, flowers, and walked all over Dugas Park. ……all with zero complaint. I quickly learned that this is just how Julie and Joe operate.  They are gracious, kind, and just fantastic humans.  I already know that I am blessed to become their friend.

It doesn’t always work out due to various reasons, but if you are on the fence about an engagement session, do it.  There are a couple of key advantages to spending a bit of time with your photographer before your wedding.  First, you learn base poses and that becomes very important during the rush that can easily happen on an event packed wedding.  If you’ve enjoyed an engagement session, those poses come right back to you when the bride/groom section begins.  Second, it builds comfort with your photographer.  Weddings are joyful and should be one of the highlights of your life, but uninvited nerves can also come to visit.  If you know and feel at ease with your photographer, you don’t have to worry about being nervous about your wedding photos.  I learned so much about Julie and Joe during our session, and our comfort level with each other is something that only happens when you already know someone or are able to spend a bit of time together. This allows the bride and groom to relax and simply take in the moments of the day.

Julie and Joe, I hope you love your photos.  You are such a beautiful and fun couple, and I know your wedding will be an absolute joy.  Here’s hoping that you enjoy taking in every moment between now and then and I’ll see you in October!  Love and blessings,  Pat
