Erika + John | A Beautiful Fall Boho Wedding at The Old Brick House

Weddings Engagements

Oh it was beautiful!

And there were sweet tears.  Lots of sweet and happy tears.  A wedding is an joyous occasion, but it’s emotional because it represents so many dreams – those of the bride, groom, parents, children, siblings…   It represents the hope of tomorrow, the sorrows of yesterday, and the strength of today.   We are all the result of our experiences, our lessons learned, and our resilience too.  Seeing this beautiful couple join their individual families and smile with joy is something that brought tears to the surface for just about everyone – Erika’s parents, her groom, the children, friends – and me too.   Those pesky tears try to sneak out the sides of our eyes.  We blink to control them, but then they spill over anyway.  And it’s a beautiful thing.

The tears turned to fun laughter as John and Erika, in their true hilariously sarcastic style, promised to love each other forever.  They promised to stay together even when the cookies are burned, when the other is being a jerk (my word there – can’t repeat the exact word….) and both agreed that if they could make it through covid quarantine, they can definitely survive the hard times.  But each also knows that the other is their everything, the one person who completes them.  And their joy is real, contagious, and such a blessing.

John and Erika, I’m still over here cheering for you.  You deserve all the joy that’s come your way, and I can’t wait to see what you accomplish together, including what new animals are running around the next time I bring my camera over.  I wish you lots of laughter, a house filled with the noisy banter of six sets of feet, and that you have time to just stop and soak it all in.  Love and blessings,  Pat

When you are a hairdresser yourself, you have friends who jump in to help on your wedding day.

And then it’s time to dress.  The beauty of this moment was not lost on any one.

After telling her he just couldn’t turn around, Erika’s dad was the sweetest when he saw his beautiful daughter.

The wedding decor was stunning, and the vision of Erika’s mom.  I told her she may have missed her calling.  Everywhere I looked, something else caught my eye.  It was beautiful from beginning to end.

And then the music started.

And then there were beautiful children walking into their future…  And flowers – lots and lots of flowers.

John and Erika each wrote their own vows.  They were both touching, hilarious, and sweet.  And the bottom line is that they both promise to love each other forever, in good times – and covid.

And Erika gave John the bow tie that she had prayed over before she ever knew he existed.

All the tears are forgotten, and Elliott Young is back to his crazy self.  One thing is for sure, he loves his girls.

A mother’s love is deeper than the ocean.

I figured out where Erika’s dad gets his antics…. it would be from his own sweet mama. She is such fun.

Girls go after the bouquet, and guys either have no idea what it’s all about, or run the other way.
