Devin is the epitome of Bohemian, and it was fitting that she and Nathan married surrounded by beautiful retro fabrics, a little whimsy, and a lot of love.
When I think of the Ramseys, I think of rejuvenation, joy, and appreciation. Can you be around Devin without feeling joy? I think that’s impossible. Her zest for life, her way of stating the obvious with a giggle, and how she simply creates her own path. But I think that’s only part of why Nathan fell so hard for her. Most of our paths aren’t perfectly straight; we have weaves and bobbles that cause us pain and to struggle. What we choose to do with our own humanity determines our future, and if we choose to bring our path back to our roots, we find an appreciation and rejuvenation that transforms our life. As Nathan’s sister said in her speech (and I’m summarizing here) – it’s freedom to live, freedom to love, and freedom to move forward.
Nathan and Devin wrote their own vows. And those vows were from their souls. Each of them talked about a single moment that their lives took a different turn – toward each other. It was that moment at Nathan’s sisters when they each worked on their vision boards, and looking back it seems more than a coincidence that they were brought together in that space and time with the same church family to boot. Now more than a year later, they both look back in amazement at those vision boards, how they matched up perfectly and how those prayers came to pass in an incredible way.
I was incredibly blessed to photograph this special day for you. It was perfect. Devin, in your true fashion, you had said that you just wanted to feel pretty and marry Nathan, and you’d be happy. You did both and so much more. Your wedding was just like you – spirited, fun, and just the perfect gypsy quality that makes you so beautiful – inside and out. And Nathan, I feel like I’ve already known you forever. You are the perfect completion to Devin. What I saw in you was the person who is the calm to her whimsy, the steady, and rock solid man who she adores. Apart, you are both amazing, and together – just perfect.
