It was a bit chilly and then began drizzling before we finished this session, but that didn’t stop their smiles.

Brook and Juan are engaged, and I’m so happy for both of them. They were both my students years ago, and a few years apart.   I remember a couple ball seasons ago when I realized they were together, and I was so surprised.  It’s always the neatest thing to see who ends up together when they are all grown up. Juan was such a mess in middle school. He was always up to fun and Brook was always beautiful and feisty for sure. And now, they make the sweetest couple ever.

I could tell how much he loves her because she really makes him smile, and laugh. And he got dressed up on a Friday evening because she wanted him to. And speaking of that, their outfits were perfect. It was such a fun session, and they were willing to do anything I asked. I appreciated their trust, even when I chose odd places to photograph them because the light was just perfect there. All photographers chase light, but those of us who shoot natural light have to really be careful where we choose to shoot.

Brook and Juan, thank you for spending some time with me and for asking me to do your wedding next year. I couldn’t be prouder of both of you and am honored to be a part of such an important time in your lives. I wish you the best, and it blesses me to see your smiles and happiness.
