Laura + Bryan | Scottsville Engagment Session

Weddings Engagements

Laura prayed for no rain, but she forgot to mention the wind. It swirled all around us just like a whirlpool.  There was one time when we were at the pond when I was reminded of the time that the Bible speaks of the mighty rushing wind stirring in the trees. And it gave such a peaceful feeling to me as I photographed this sweet couple.

I met Laura years ago when she was a little girl. I photographed her older brother’s wedding, and we figured out that we were cousins, a few generations down. When I was a little girl myself, I remember going to Cave City to visit my dad’s Uncle Jack and his family. Laura’s great grandmother, Ann Lizzie, was my dad’s aunt (Uncle Jack’s sister).  I was too little to put it all together at the time.  I just remember watching Princess Dianna marry Prince Charles one Saturday while we were at their house.  I thought she was the most beautiful lady I’d ever seen.   As time went by and our older generation began to leave us, I lost touch with that part of the family. So I was thrilled to accidentally make contact with them again.   Fast forward a few years, and now that darling little girl with the long black hair is now grown and about to be a bride. And she’s just as sweet now as she was then. Her happiness radiates to her smiles and I’m pretty sure a guy named Bryan has a lot to do with that.

When Laura and Bryan met, it was an instant connection, and here we are a few months later taking pictures that I hope convey the love and happiness they both feel. When I watched them together, I could tell that they have such a deep respect for and really cherish each other. It’s such a sweet thing to see and it reminds us that even with all we can see wrong in our world, there are some things still so very right. Our lives have meaning and purpose, and we are meant to find happiness as we travel through our time.

Laura and Bryan, I am so honored that you chose me to photograph your engagement session and wedding next year. I hope that you soak up all the beauty of this time in your life; that you savor each hour of pulling your decorations together, or planning your rehearsal, choosing your songs, and all the little things that go into a beautiful wedding. But what I hope most of all is that you always keep that little spark when you look at each other, and that your time here together is filled with abundant joy. Love and blessings, Pat
