She bounced into my office what feels like yesterday and said, “When I’m a senior, I want you to take my pictures, ok?” I blinked, and five years later, we’ve done them. Shayla is a tiny firecracker and full of fun personality. When she was in the middle school, you just never knew what she might say or come up with. And I have a sneaky feeling that it’s really not that much different now. She’s a doll, inside and out, and has always had a spot in my heart.
She loves to laugh and have a good time. She might also be minus a bit of a filter, because if she thinks it, it’s already out her mouth before she can stop it. There might have been a few times when she was in 7th and 8th grade that I told her, “Shayla, you can NOT say that.” LOL. But isn’t that what makes Shayla hilarious, a bit edgy, and always interesting?? No wonder she’s such a big part of the ACS Color Guard. And this girl, she has a huge heart, which is the perfect yen to her yang. She cares about her friends and family with a fierce love that is equal to the rest of her personality. She’s quick to speak her mind, quick to forgive, and quick to laugh. And she’s quick to worm her way right into your heart too.
Shayla, it was an honor to do your senior session. And it does just seem like yesterday that you were bouncing around JEBMS, getting into mischief and always, always so alive. One of my favorite things about you is your spunkiness (dictionary says that’s not a word) and your sweet smile. I hope that this year is perfect for you and that your dreams come true. I know that you will do awesome things at WKU because you are a hard worker and sharp as a tack. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you. I’ll always be interested and watching to see your life unfold. You are one of a kind, girl, and I’ve been blessed to know you.
Love and blessings, -Pat
