Shauna and Zak- Southern Kentucky Rustic Wedding at the Gunter Barn

This is another sweet couple who I’ve known separately since their days several years ago in middle school. Who would have guessed that their lives would end up intertwined forever? And I’m certain that they are meant for each other. When I see Shauna flash Zak that million dollar smile of hers and I see that he kind of melts, YEP – that tells me all I need to know. And I’m so happy that this restless boy that I remember from JEBMS has grown up and found true love with one of the sweetest girls ever. I can’t imagine any more of a blessing than to see relationships blossom, especially when they are unexpected.

Shauna and Zak’s wedding day was rainy, like solid rain so much that we couldn’t even sneak outside to get sunset pics, but it was a beautiful wedding from start to finish. I loved the rustic feel of the ceremony and reception, and it fit perfectly with Shauna and Zak’s personalities. They love to fish together and how fitting that they would choose to do a country/rustic wedding that lines up exactly with the life they enjoy.

We had such fun doing their engagement pictures, and I appreciated how Shauna and Zak trusted me when I said, “Let’s meet in my mother in law’s yard.” In the spring, I HAVE to have blooms in nearly every session, or it hurts my soul. So I’m always on the hunt for flowers. And they change constantly based on when they bloom. When you add in lighting situations – (I mean you have to the right light), it get’s tricky. So sometimes my requests are off the wall. But it worked beautifully. Zak and Shauna’s engagement photos are some of my favorites because it felt like I was capturing who they were, which is very important to me. We found a mostly dry creek bed too, as well as a beautiful road and field to finish out their session. My very favorites were of them sitting on the tailgate of their truck, because I’m pretty sure that happens a lot with them – and they are soooo cute together.

Shauna and Zak – You are the sweetest couple and I’m warmed by the glow that you have when you are around each other. I wish years of love and happiness, and TONS of fishing for your marriage. Thanks for letting me be a part of a very important day in your life. Love and blessings, -Pat
