This was my last wedding of 2020. And in true fashion based on expectations this year, Kim and Detrick had to sacrifice and make changes in order to have their special day.
But that’s what I’ve found out about these two. They work together with everything, and they figure out a way. And it was lovely and sweet from beginning until the end. Detrick’s dad performed their wedding ceremony. And if you remember from when I did their engagement session, I mentioned that Detrick loves to have fun. Well I found out where he gets it. That would be straight from his dad. In fact, this wedding was full of fun moments, lots of laughter and all of it was just perfect. I loved how Kim and Detrick included his littles in both the ceremony itself and in their vows. Blended families can sometimes be tough, but the love and joy they can bring is worth every moment of the work it takes to move forward.
December 12, 2020 dawned with rain ending and a chilled wind who set up camp right where we needed to do pre-ceremony photos. Detrick, Kim, and their entire wedding party were determined to make it work, and we did. You know, every wedding has so many cool differences and things that happen. No two are ever alike, even if they are planned that way. What is the coolest thing ever is that you end up remembering the funny or quirky things that happen the most. Because just like in life, it’s the extraordinary that makes our story. And I can say with certainty that this is a wedding I’ll never forget. I’ll always remember the sweet children’s comments here and there and the other funny things that happened. It’s all a beautiful story, to be treasured and shared.
Kim and Detrick, it was my honor to be a small part of your beautiful wedding. I loved your style, your easy going fun, and your sentimental touches. I think you are an amazing couple, and I can’t wait to see what your future holds. When two people are on the same road, with the same dreams and goals, even the sky is not a limit. I wish you joy, deepening love each day, and perseverance when the road gets a bit rocky. You have what it takes. Love and blessings, Pat
