Karleigh + Jon | A September Shaker Springs Wedding

Karleigh and Jon’s beautiful wedding was my second one on the weekend that Helene came through and stalled out. We dreamed, hoped, and really thought that the skies would clear at some point during the day, but a moderate mist would not lift. It was light enough for us to move from place to place as absolutely needed, but in no way allowed us to just hang out under the sky. The bride and groom handled it with grace and it turned out simply beautiful. That’s the way life is; we have dreams and goals that sometimes get literally poured on. But thankfully, that isn’t the end of the story. Every situation provides us with the opportunity to make lemonade out of lemons. It’s hard to let go of a vision, but when you do, something equally beautiful happens. You find the grit inside of you to pivot, and to chase a different dream that you never even knew you could. The Brewington wedding will always live in my memories as an example of what happens when family and friends pull together to change plans. The wedding location was switched to the reception location in literally FIVE minutes. Everyone knew what they were to do, and they did it. Witnessing how friends and family came together to make this wedding happen was a beautiful reminder of why I love photographing weddings.

If you meet Karleigh, you quickly figure out a couple of things. She loves deeply – her family, her friends, her JON. She’s full of life’s energy, and loves to dance and have fun. When I arrived at Shaker Springs, she told me, “I’m over it.” And she proceeded to love on her crew and her Jon, and have fun. The gifts she gave were incredibly thoughtful and full of meaning and brought tears all around. I found myself wiping a few leaked tears too. And Jon is the epitome of calm, of integrity, and the one perfect soulmate to Karleigh. He loves her without measure, and his kindness equals hers. Jon is the same genuinely kind young man every single time I’ve been around him the last few years. He adores her. He is her rock and it’s no trouble to see why.

Mr. and Mrs. Brewington, I was honored to photograph your wedding. It was beautiful from beginning to end, and from the inside out. Your love for each other is a blessing to see, and you proved it over and over on September 28th.
