Stacy’s watch confirmed his racing heart rate. We had planned a phrase I’d say when we found the perfect location and light for him to officially propose to Jenna. Not all plans happen perfectly, but this one did. And we got a good chuckle when it was over, and he breathed again.
Jenna and Stacy were already planning their wedding, but they had to send off Jenna’s mother’s original engagement ring to be resized. It hadn’t come in, and Jenna wanted to postpone their engagement session. Stacy convinced her otherwise, and the plan was on. Her surprise when he dropped to his knee and brought the ring around was beautiful to watch. It’s one of many fun and sweet moments that are a part of the sweet whirlwind of wedding activity with this beautiful couple. And if you know Jenna’s brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Holly, you won’t be surprised to know that they showed up shortly after the proposal on a lawnmower with various balloons and quite interestingly dressed. It was all so sweet and hilarious at the same time. Some families are sweet and sentimental, some not sentimental at all, and some find the craziest ways to weave some laughter and unforgettable memories. It was crazy windy, and surprisingly cool despite the 50 degree forecast. I had my jacket zipped to my nose, but Jenna and Stacy handled the chill like champs. Their laughter and joy warmed them, and just seeing how they looked at each other was so sweet. And I loved every second of finding good light and photographing in completely new locations that were both special to Jenna and Stacy. We started on Jenna’s family farm and ended on Stacy’s. Both places were breath taking, and made me smile the whole time. There’s just something about family farms that brings peace and calm to my soul.
I can’t go forward without mentioning a really sweet little boy who is beyond excited that Jenna is about to become his stepmom. I was thrilled to see that. As a school counselor, I’ve seen so many tears when blended families aren’t able to blend. It’s hard, but it’s the most important goal to work toward when you have a little involved. Trenton is such a hoot, and we had a great time. He wanted plenty of pictures with Jenna too, and he worked hard to help me come up with poses. Honestly, he did pretty well. He learned quite a few poses in just one afternoon. It was amazing to me how quickly he picked it up and between the two of us, we kept things rolling. And his imaginary camera worked pretty well too.
Jenna and Stacy, you are a beautiful couple and I am blessed to be a small part of this time in your life. I’ll see you in a couple of weeks when all your dreams come to life.
Love and blessings,
