“It’s a Saint Christopher pendant,” Addie told Ty with a hint of tears in her eyes. It was her wedding gift to him. Saint Christopher is the patron saint of travelers. On the back, she had engraved “May we always travel together.” Ty gave Addie a beautiful pearl bracelet as her wedding gift. Both gifts were from the heart and will become heirlooms for the new Downing family.
I’ve known Addie nearly her whole life. I’ve watched her grow from a darling little girl to an elegant, beautiful lady. She’s been an artist almost since she could walk, and she’s now an art teacher. (It was only fitting that she commissioned a wedding artist to capture part of her day as well. Make sure you scroll down to see the amazing painting that she completed.) I started seeing pictures of “Young Ty” as Addie’s dad calls him a few years ago in the annual Towery Family beach trips. I think he’s the perfect completion of Addie, the other half that makes her whole. When I see the joy in her eyes as she looks at him, I know that theirs is the sweetest love.
It’s an old tale that if it rains, you will have wonderful luck in your marriage. On October 10th, Addie and Ty navigated through an entire day of rain. And I mean RAIN. It fell all day long, but that didn’t diminish the spirits of Addie, Ty, and their wedding party. It was a beautiful day and the rain is just one part of a joy filled wedding story that Addie and Ty will one day tell their children. We were thrilled that the rain gave us a reprieve in time for family formals in Mary’s Garden at Holy Spirit. A beautiful wedding ceremony followed by sparklers, a waltz and swing dances made 10-10-20 complete. And it was all perfect!
Addie and Ty, it was a blessing to photograph your wedding. Your day turned out amazing and beautiful. I wish you years of love and happiness, and I hope you never forget how you felt on 10-10-20.
