Friends, here’s another awesome ACS Senior who none of us can believe is grown. When you don’t see someone every day or even for a few months, it’s amazing how quickly the change takes place. Yesterday Austin was a kid; today he’s a young man who knows his own way. I was very impressed with the casual and quiet confidence that he carries and with his great attitude and common sense about everything.
Austin has always been a great guy with a huge heart. He’s fantastic around kids, and our Rhett thinks there is nothing like Austin. I always have a soft spot for people, especially teens, who are good to kids. I haven’t been a kid for a VERY long time, but I still vividly remember the ones who treated me well and the ones who did not. As an adult, we make our own way and decisions, but a kid doesn’t have as many choices. I think anyone who loves and is kind to those who can’t do anything in return deserves an extra star in their crown. Austin is definitely one of those guys. I watched how Justin reacts to him and how Austin just carries him around, with Justin grinning the whole time. It was heartwarming to see. Austin will always be Justin’s hero, and I see why. And every kid needs a hero or two.
Austin, I can’t say enough how much I admire the young man you’ve become. I love your sense of humor, and your hilarious responses when you were being handed a hard time over your grins. A genuine sense of humor and calm confidence will take you so far in life, and you have both of those. I hope your Senior year is the best ever, and that you have lots of good times and laughs; that is after all, what makes life a joy to live. All my best, -Pat
