Joanna + Elliott | A Late Afternoon Engagement Session in Rockfield

Weddings Engagements

This session was in Rockfield, because that’s where Joanna and Elliott are making memories that span down five generations.

When Joanna asked me to come to Rockfield to photograph their engagement session on her family farm, I was all about it.  Your engagement pictures, or any other photos, always mean more in years to come if you are able to do them at a place that is sentimental.  And I can’t think of any place more precious than a farm that has been in Joanna’s family through multiple generations of marriages.  Can you imagine all the memories those fields, trees, and creeks hold?  For sure there have been some blood, sweat, and probably plenty of tears, but also treasured days and evenings of laughter, joy, and taking in life.

And you just never know when things will change.  Sometimes it’s a life upheaval, and sometimes it’s a tree.  As we walked around and found beautiful light and locations for Elliott and Joanna’s photos, I saw a BEAUTIFUL tree in the middle of the field.  I knew immediately that I wanted to include it in their session and was thrilled with the result.  And I just found out that the old tree is now on the ground, brought down by last Friday’s crazy storms.  It made me sad because of the beauty of that perfect tree, but also reminded me that literally nothing stays the same.   Everything, including we humans, is always growing, dying, changing.  I once heard that the one thing that never changes is that life always changes.

Joanna and Elliott, you both made me feel like I’ve known you forever.  I appreciate and respect the life you are building, the home you are creating, and the hard work you do every day.  Farm life is the salt of this earth, and the way you embrace it gives me hope for the future.  I am honored to photograph such an important time in your life, and I wish you amazing success.  Here’s to years of creating more memories in Rockfield.  I’ll see you in September when you promise forever.   Love and blessings,  Pat
