Katlyn + Forrest | A Summer Wedding at Old Mulky

Katlyn and Forrest wed in one of the most beautiful places in Kentucky, Old Mulky. Their wedding was a celebration of the love they share and the family they love.  It was 20 degrees past warm, but that didn’t stop the beauty of this wedding. I thought that I had been all over this area photographing weddings, but this was my first one at Old Mulky. It’s such a serene and peaceful place, the perfect venue to host the beginning of the rest of your life.

Katlyn and Forrest are simply a great couple. Their love and commitment to each other and little Trace is evident within just a few moments. And what I also admired so much about this wedding is how Katlyn found a way to include so many from their families. It speaks to the life they live surrounded by their families, something that seems to be lost with so many families in today’s fast paced world. When Katlyn told me she had seven – SEVEN – flower girls, I smiled and sent up a silent prayer that I could keep them all facing me for those so important pictures. They were PERFECT – absolute angels and amazing to photograph. I wish I could have had an extra hour just to photograph them. Not only were they simply beautiful, they were sweet. I hope if they read this years from now, that they understand just how amazing and beautiful they were – all of them.

And I can’t leave out the little boys, one Katlyn and Forrest’s son, and the other Katlyn’s nephew. They attended the wedding in a wagon, and I took so many pictures of their battles and discussions that it’s a wonder I didn’t miss the rings and kiss. They had a massive disagreement over a water bottle, and then one couldn’t convince the other to be quiet.  One of the cousin flower girls tried to help, but it was mostly just a lost cause – and absolutely ADORABLE. I had the silent giggle shakes just watching them, so it’s a wonder those images are in focus. And I probably wouldn’t normally include those photos in a blog post, but every time I think about this beautiful wedding, I also think about two little boys in a red wagon who nearly stole the show, …. and I smile just remembering.

Katlyn and Forrest, I was honored to be a part of your wedding. It was perfect, and you were more than amazing to plan with and your kindness and sweet spirit is one I will never forget. It was YOUR day, and you were all about everyone else. I think it speaks to the couple you are. That same giving spirit will make your marriage work, and your dreams come true. My wish for you is that you will read this again fifty years from now and smile at each other across years of memories, love and laughter. Love and blessings, Pat 2019-08-10_0001.jpg
