Casey + Tyler | A Summer Wedding at Lost River Cave

“No, I don’t think he will cry,” Casey said as we walked toward the bridge and her first look with Tyler. “He doesn’t like to show his emotions, so I think he will hold it in.” Tyler cried…. And Casy hugged him so tight that she got makeup on his shirt collar. It was perfect, and a beautiful first look.

Friday afternoon was hot and humid, a typical summer day in the heart of Kentucky. The cool air inside the mouth of Lost River Cave was a welcome respite, and one that we all took advantage of every chance we had. That’s all the beauty of an outdoor wedding; you are at Mother Nature’s mercy, and it’s often necessary to make split second changes to your plans. That happened several times during this gorgeous wedding. Thank goodness for radar apps, the wedding timeline was moved forward about ten minutes because it was about to come a downpour right on the wedding party. And that decision was just in time.

Casey’s brother Cole met her as an elegant classic Chevy coupe pulled up with his twin sister, I’m sure the most beautiful bride he’d ever seen. We all held our breath as he helped her out, and linked arms with her to bring her down the aisle to her waiting love. It was one of so many amazing moments that are forever in our memories.

Because it was pouring by the end of Casey and Tyler’s vows, we gave up our second set of bridge photos, grabbed a kiss in the rain with an umbrella in front of the Chevy coupe, the bridal party at the arch, and counted our lucky stars that Casey and Tyler had chosen to have that first look. It rained, and even stormed, but not on their love, and not on the beauty of this couple and their wedding.

Part of the beauty of a wedding is sharing it with those you love.  We had to get a couple of shots with Casey, Cole, Reana, and Olivia – the Amigos.  “I hauled that bunch around alot over the years,” Jan, Casey’s mom, said with a little catch in her voice.  And I know those four have countless memories of fun and laughter over their growing up years.

I’ve never met a veil I didn’t like, but Casey’s caused me to catch my breath.  A cathedral length veil is classy and helps create a stunning look.

Casey loved her grandparents and wanted to incorporate her grandfather’s pajama shirt into her bouquet.

Tyler’s Masonic brother, Kirk Hardwick, added to the elegance of the Willoughby wedding with his 1940 classic Chevy coupe.

Tyler’s dad, Mike, had the honor of marrying his son and new daughter.  It was a beautiful ceremony.

Seth & Krista with Magnolia & Steel worked hard to create a stunning view from every angle.  They were also Casey’s coordinators, and did an amazing job of making changes on the fly due to the changing weather.
